JVRIS EDGE

One Place for Lawyers

The growing business challenges in law firms involve the articulation of a multidisciplinary team, which begins its work before its prospect becomes a client, and which does not end with the issuing of an invoice for the work. Client retention involves the commitment to client satisfaction, provided not only by the result of the work, but also by the appropriate and profitable price for the firm.

The response to the different dimensions of work, where the client is at the centre, has led to the adoption of different technological platforms, whose delivery of functionality to lawyers should be carefully considered so that their billable time is not affected.

JVRIS EDGE is a software for law firms aligned with the trends of Law Practice 4.0.

JVRIS EDGE takes you even further in managing your firm, from ubiquitous access on any device, to the benefits of robust JVRIS and diverse integrations with iManage Work and Legal BI.

Why JVRIS EDGE

Why should I switch from JVRIS to JVRIS EDGE?

JVRIS EDGE is an evolution of JVRIS ADVANCED, a product that has more than 80% of marketshare in firms over 20 lawyers (2021 Observatory). JVRIS EDGE is a platform aligned with the new working paradigm, allowing ubiquitous access from any place and device with a browser. It also adds a set of differentiating factors to the current JVRIS, such as

  • Integrated time capture agent
  • Stopwatches
  • Online report review
  • Drill-down maps
  • Contextualised integration with iManage Work, FLOW and LEGAL BI

How can I upgrade to JVRIS EDGE?

The technical change process is extremely simple, with the consultancy time applied to training and support in the adoption of the new functionalities. The macro interventions include the following:

  • Upgrade to JVRIS version 7.05 or higher
  • Move the platform to the ROOX Cloud if you have less than 50 users (it is optional above 50 users, depending on a set of technical requirements)
  • Consultancy and training in the new features
  • How much does it cost me to change?

The change project depends on the JVRIS version you have, the effort in the implementation and training of new features, as well as the location in Cloud ROOX or the client. This effort translated into hours has a discount of up to 20% of the base value. As regards the licensing model, this also changes from perpetual licensing, for which a percentage is applied to licences, to a periodic payment depending on the number of users. The cost of the solution in the SaaS model (Software as a Service), has a 20% discount for the first 3 years for customers who currently have the perpetual model.

Until when can I use the current JVRIS?

There is no date to discontinue the solution, however the efforts of evolution in innovative features, should go through the JVRIS EDGE and not the current JVRIS. However currently the JVRIS EDGE delivers features for the lawyer, being still necessary to use the JVRIS in backoffice features or functionalities specific to the lawyer.

JVRIS EDGE is the evolution of JVRIS

JVRIS is a forensic office management software that has been on the market since 1987, distinguished by its ability to respond to the needs of both legal work and office management. It is a platform that has sustainably satisfied the requirements of thousands of forensic users over these more than three decades. It has more than 350 law firms as clients and around 8000 active users.

Responds to business growth and dynamics

JVRIS responds to your needs regardless of the size of your firm, and the proof is the breadth of size of our clients, ranging from the sole practitioner to firms with over 400 users. JVRIS has over 80% marketshare in firms with more than 20 lawyers in Portugal. It is characterised by its wide-ranging definition of fee agreements, without losing the capacity to control profitability, something essential in a professional services entity.

It is an open platform that integrates with various other products

JVRIS EDGE is an open platform that allows integration with

  • iManage Work document management
  • Intapp Time
  • ERP's SAP, Primavera, SAGE, Sendys, Navision
  • FLOW BPM
  • LEGAL BI
  • DeepL or Grammarly for translation
  • OpenAI for natural language use.
  • ...

You can migrate your data

Depending on the software you use today, or the exploitation you make of it, our experience allows us to guarantee with high certainty that a data migration between platforms is possible. We have experience in migrating all software from Portuguese manufacturers as well as some international ones.

Depending on the size of the firm, the need to use a client management platform becomes more or less critical. However, our reading of the market is that there are no firms above 15 lawyers that do not use any type of management software. Thus, segmentation is carried out by 3 categories of lawyer groupings, as follows:

  • Lawyers practicing alone
  • Lawyers practising alone and sharing structures
  • Small law firms
  • Currently, JVRIS EDGE is marketed with a minimum limit of 5 licenses, since it is understood that the added value contributed by the solution involves not only the individual control of the lawyer's work with their clients, but also the management of clients in a more holistic manner and shared between a group of lawyers.

Although a lawyer in an isolated practice may benefit from a solution such as JVRIS EDGE, in 2024 a specific version for this segment will be launched, which will be adequate in terms of price and functionalities.

The following benefits of a SaaS (Software as a Service) can be highlighted

  1. Accessibility: users can access the software from anywhere, as long as they have an internet connection. (A: A stable internet connection is required, the absence of which inhibits access to the system).
  2. Lower cost (CAPEX Vs OPEX): Customers do not need to purchase additional software licenses or hardware to run the software, as well as do not need to invest large amounts of licensing fees to start using it.
  3. Automatic updates: software updates are done by the supplier, eliminating the need for local updates. (A: These updates may however be subject to consultancy or training if they mean impacts on the business process)
  4. Scalability: customers can increase or decrease the number of software licenses according to their needs, without having to worry about the necessary infrastructure.
  5. Security: SaaS vendors typically have teams dedicated to software security and are certified (A: ROOX is ISO27001 certified and the DataCenter provider has a number of additional certifications)

Despite these benefits, there are some concerns that should be demystified

  1. Data security: customers may fear that their data is not secure in the cloud and thus could be compromised or stolen.(A: SaaS providers have dedicated security teams, which are often superior to those in-house. Nevertheless, no system is inviolable)
  2. Vendor dependency: customers may be concerned about the dependency of the SaaS vendor and the possibility of them stopping offering the service or making it more expensive. (A: ROOX has been on the market for over 20 years and JVRIS for over 30 years. The solution's value increases are defined in the proposals or contracts)
  3. Customization and flexibility: customers may want more control over the software and the ability to customize it to their specific needs, which may not be possible with a SaaS. (A: Customization of the software requires ROOX intervention, however specific customization is possible in three ways: 1) if the functionality makes sense for the target platform, it is included at no cost to the customer 2) if the functionality makes sense only to that customer, and if the customer supports the development costs, the single-tenant architecture of JVRIS EDGE allows that configuration 3) linked with point 2) the platform can reside in the customer's infrastructure)
  4. Latency and availability: customers may be concerned about latency and availability of the SaaS, especially if they are using it for critical tasks. (A: The infrastructure where JVRIS EDGE is hosted is of an adequate size for its customers, but there is always a dependency on communications)
  5. Integration with other tools: customers may fear that SaaS is not compatible or cannot be integrated with other tools or systems that they are already using. (A: answered in point 2).
